Brad is extremely professional and knowledgeable in his field. He is very honest and the price he quoted was the price he charged. He was willing to meet when it was most convenient for us, based on our schedule. While building our new home Brad worked with us on the design and installation of cabinets and counter tops in our kitchen, master bath, two additional full baths, laundry room and bar area. We were looking for something unique and rustic for foot rails in our bar area and kitchen island as well as in our laundry room for a hanging area. He suggested pipes which he had custom cut, powder coated and he installed. They came out awesome!! He helped with picking out and installed a farmers sink for a corner window area in our kitchen, as well as installation of our commercial oven and tile back splash in both kitchen and bar area. Brad is very meticulous and makes sure the job is done right. We would highly recommend Brad for all your kitchen and bath needs.

I have worked with other contractors for projects on my home. However, working with Brad of BJ Kennison Company was by far the best experience I have ever had. He is a true artisan not just a carpenter. He has an eye for design and details. Brad is meticulous about his work and goes above & beyond to problem solve. Brad was excellent in his workmanship and professionalism while working on my remodeled bathroom. It was a long project and he was always on top of problems like inspection delays and manufacturer delays so that the project was not held up too long. He was always punctual and let me know if he was not able to come a particular day. His subcontractors were professional as well, and he was always there to supervise their work. My bathroom is everything I imagined and beautiful!! It feels and looks like a spa!

Brad Kennison worked for us from June, 2016, to May, 2017 (plus several months of planning and follow-up adjustments afterwards) to completely remodel our kitchen, living room and dining area. During that time he also created a new bathroom from a storage area. The short answer is we can easily recommend Brad to anyone considering remodeling or freshly installing any type of home construction.

Our two main projects (new kitchen and master bath) were meticulously planned over several months prior to the actual work starting. Brad looks carefully at all the details and makes plans that show the placement of everything he expects to install. He added in some fat for unanticipated things. The original time estimate was around five months but the extent of the remodel and multiple problems related the house pushed the overall time out to a year but in return we got a level of quality we just never would have gotten with a less conscientious company that values turn-around time over quality.

Possibly the biggest plus was Brad’s personality. Never did he get impatient or annoyed when problems came up. As mentioned, many hidden issues surfaced that required much more time and work on his part (hence the much longer time frame). There were hundreds of interactions (questions, revisions and updates) that could have resulted in getting testy, short tempered or frustrated, which never happened with Brad. He seemed to always be in a good mood.

Brad also does the majority of his own work. Many specific items were ordered (cabinets, windows, doors, tiles), which he installed. For areas that required more expertise, he would subcontract (floors, dry walls, plumbing, electrical, granite/marble countertops, painting, roof), but many other speciality areas he did himself (tiles and grouting, ceilings, appliance installation). He went with us to select a raw piece of walnut for the center island counter, which weighed hundreds of pounds, required a special saw that he purchased for the cutting, and extensive finishing to make it into a unique top.

He was often present when the subcontractors were working, and if not, was always available by phone. Most remarkable was the design and installation of a “cat superhighway” with a staircase to a perch rising from the middle of the center island with walkways high above leading to the living room. Brad enthusiastically embraced this fairly insane idea and made it work.

Many smaller projects emerged as work progressed (moisture barrier under the floor, rebuilding part of the deck and a bedroom wall that started a leak, adding the proper air flow and vent in the kitchen ceiling, among many others) that significantly increased the cost and time. Brad often did not write up Change Orders for every little thing that emerged. The quality we liked was Brad’s constant checking with one of us to confirm that something was getting installed exactly the way we wanted it. There were many times we asked what he thought, but he always wanted to be sure we were all on the same page before the work was started.

After completion: Brad followed-up to fix or modify problems that arose after completion. Pocket doors and drawers needed adjusting. Certain plumbing and electrical items needed adjustment also, and his subcontractors were happy to return to fix those issues.

Our new kitchen with custom cabinets and center island designed to take advantage of the view, plus the new master bath with steam room and pocket door, have added a level of elegance and comfort to our home that will last us decades. We consider Brad to be the best in his field and would easily put him at the top of any list of candidates for remodeling or reconstruction.

We have met and received estimates from three companies. At the end of the process both my husband and I agreed that Bradley is a way to go. We were impressed with his calmness, description of the process and discussing what other workers he involves in the project. Within the first week we knew we have chosen correctly. Bradley is easy to work with, always on time, keeps you informed, exact work and very tidy. There was not a day that the area or any other space were not cleaned up. The final kitchen product is just awesome. We had no surprises of additional costs above the original quote or any unexpected delays in completion of our kitchen. Even now over a year since the project was completed I find myself loving this beautiful kitchen. It came together beautifully. If and when we have any future projects we intend to have Bradley assist us with it.

Dear Brad,

It is hard to believe that it haws been nearly two years since you installed our beautiful kitchen! I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you again how much Jeannine and I love it. The cherry cabinets just get more beautiful as they age, just as you said they would. Those cabinets are really well made and the only problems that we had were over a year after they were installed. There was a problem with a couple doors and the soft close mechanism on one of the drawers did not work properly. You fixed both problems at no cost to me, that is service that you do not get often these days and I want to thank you again for taking care of us. I would recommend you to anyone and feel free to have someone contact me so I can personally vouch for your fine work and follow-up service. We feel that we made a friend when we did business with you.

P.S. Those replacement doors have aged and match the rest of the cabinets beautifully. That cherry is sure hard to beat and it goes well with the dark granite counter tops.

From the beginning you were always there with samples, examples and suggestions. Your final design was extremely creative and your ideas to increase space and functionality were truly inspired.

Your workmanship and craftsmanship was outstanding. My kitchen is beautiful as well as functional. We appreciated the way you completed the project with a minimum of hardship for us as well – no dumpster in our yard, you cleaned up after each work day and we were still able to function in the home with minimal disruption while the project was ongoing.

Most importantly, you started the project exactly when you said you would and finished exactly when you said you would and right on budget.

Well, it has taken me quite a long time to write this letter, but I finally said I must write to BJ to tell him how much we love our new kitchen.

I have never cooked so much in my whole life since the completion of our new, bright, airy kitchen. I love the new large work area!!! I’m so glad that you were able to fit it into our plans. It is the most gorgeous kitchen on our street.

I guess I’ve always been a little skeptical working with a designer and a builder, but BJ, you were the easiest and most pleasant person in the world to work with. You are very honest and fair and always worked with us to stay on budget, even when I requested a bookcase in my kitchen. I am really glad we were able to add that special area to my kitchen.
